May 2026
This May, inspired by a long familiarity with our garden, I’ve selected four pieces that grew from observations, sketches, photographs, and memories. Nostalgia softens edges and lets each painting sit somewhere between record and imagination.
Morning in the Garden, Blue (Oil on Linen, 9×12 inches)
$650.00 CAD
Morning in the Garden, Blue & Yellow were painted in the middle of prairie winter. Drawing on memory and familiarity, these soft and atmospheric pieces capture the feeling of those unhurried, early summer mornings in the garden, cool air, soft light, a sketchbook and a hot cup of tea.
Summer Roses (Oil on Paper, 18×24 inches)
$540.00 CAD
Painted from memory, personal drawings, and a summer spent admiring our garden roses. These large and loose blooms float against a blue ground, the light gathering at the top and fading as it falls.
The Rosebush (16×20 inches, Oil on Paper)
$385.00 CAD
I’ve sketched and painted our roses many times over the years. Here, using early autumn references and a summer palette I’ve worked to loosely touch on the feeling of one season giving way to the next.
These paintings are inspired by home, literally and otherwise, and I hope that comes though. Thank you for spending the time to look through my work.
All the best,
Laura
