I’ve sketched and painted our roses many times over the years. For The Rosebush, I used early autumn references, a summer palette, and loose brushwork to touch on the feeling of one season giving way to the next.
My work is an impression shaped as much by feeling and memory as by the subject in front of me. The time and care behind my process is reflected in the small variations that come from working by hand - resulting in artwork that is inviting and familiar, as if it's always been in your home.
